Visiting

Visa-free for up to 60 days. Travel on a passport valid for your whole stay, with a return or onward ticket and proof you can support yourself.

Passport validity:Passport generally valid for at least 6 months

Heads-up:From 1 January 2026 the visa-free stay for many nationalities was reduced to around 30 days within any 60 day period, and back-to-back visa runs are no longer allowed.

At the border:Passport, and for e-visa holders a printed e-visa confirmation; proof of onward travel and accommodation may be requested.

Working remotely

No dedicated nomad visa; the usual route is a standard residence permit.

Tax and residency

You are likely a tax resident if you spend 183 days or more in Kyrgyzstan within any 12 month period, and residents are generally taxed on worldwide income at a flat rate of around 10 percent, while non-residents are taxed only on Kyrgyz-source income.(estimate)

The UK decides residence with its Statutory Residence Test (days in the UK plus your ties). As a non-resident you are usually taxed only on UK income; where one exists, a double-tax treaty with the destination decides who taxes what.

Practical

Currency:KGS. Cost of living:low.

Healthcare:Public healthcare is limited for foreigners, so most expats and nomads rely on private clinics in Bishkek or international travel insurance.

Driving:An International Driving Permit alongside your national licence is recommended for short stays.
