Visiting

Visa-free for up to 90 days. Travel on a passport valid for your whole stay, with a return or onward ticket and proof you can support yourself.

Passport validity:Passport generally valid for at least 6 months from arrival with at least one blank page.

At the border:Border officers may ask for proof of onward or return travel and accommodation; nationals of many countries (including the EU, US, Canada, UK) enter visa free for stays up to 90 days.

Working remotely

No dedicated nomad visa; the usual route is a standard residence permit.

Tax and residency

You are generally treated as tax resident if you have a permanent home in Morocco, your centre of economic interest is there, or you spend more than 183 days in any 365 day period, and residents are taxed on worldwide income while non residents are taxed only on Moroccan source income.(estimate)

The UK decides residence with its Statutory Residence Test (days in the UK plus your ties). As a non-resident you are usually taxed only on UK income; where one exists, a double-tax treaty with the destination decides who taxes what.

Practical

Currency:MAD. Cost of living:mid.

Healthcare:Public schemes (AMO) are generally not open to short term foreigners, so private or international health insurance is effectively essential and most expats use private clinics.

Driving:An International Driving Permit alongside your home licence is recommended for short stays, and residents normally exchange for or obtain a Moroccan licence.
