Visiting

Visa-free for up to 30 days. Travel on a passport valid for your whole stay, with a return or onward ticket and proof you can support yourself.

Passport validity:Carry a valid travel document for the whole stay; check your airline for any specific passport validity rules.

Heads-up:The visa free regime for citizens of 38 European countries is currently extended only until 31 December 2026, so confirm the rules before travel.

At the border:Valid travel document and proof of compulsory medical insurance; visa free visitors cannot transit through Russia.

Working remotely

No dedicated nomad visa; the usual route is a standard residence permit.

Tax and residency

You are generally treated as tax resident after roughly 183 days in Belarus in a calendar year, and residents are taxed on worldwide income at a flat rate of about 13 percent for most people, with higher bands of around 25 percent and 30 percent only on very high incomes.(estimate)

The UK decides residence with its Statutory Residence Test (days in the UK plus your ties). As a non-resident you are usually taxed only on UK income; where one exists, a double-tax treaty with the destination decides who taxes what.

Practical

Currency:BYN. Cost of living:low.

Healthcare:Foreign visitors who stay temporarily are required to hold compulsory medical insurance, with a Belarusian policy from Belgosstrakh or Eximgarant or a foreign policy covering at least 10,000 euros.

Driving:EU and EEA licence holders can usually drive on short visits, but non EU drivers should carry an International Driving Permit with their national licence, and most rental firms ask for one.
