Visiting

Visa-free for up to 90 days. Travel on a passport valid for your whole stay, with a return or onward ticket and proof you can support yourself.

Passport validity:Non-EEA visitors typically need a passport valid for at least three months beyond the intended departure and issued within the last ten years.

Heads-up:The Schengen Entry/Exit System (EES) is rolling out from late 2025 to April 2026, with the ETIAS travel authorisation expected to follow in late 2026.

At the border:Liechtenstein is in Schengen and in a customs and currency union with Switzerland, so non-EEA arrivals may be asked for a passport and proof of funds or onward travel.

Working remotely

No dedicated nomad visa; the usual route is a standard residence permit.

Tax and residency

You become a tax resident if you are domiciled in Liechtenstein or stay habitually for more than six months, and residents are generally taxed on their worldwide income and assets.(estimate)

The UK decides residence with its Statutory Residence Test (days in the UK plus your ties). As a non-resident you are usually taxed only on UK income; where one exists, a double-tax treaty with the destination decides who taxes what.

Practical

Currency:CHF. Cost of living:high.

Healthcare:Health insurance (OKP) is mandatory for everyone resident or working in Liechtenstein, bought from a registered private fund such as Concordia or SWICA.

Driving:EU and EEA licenses are accepted, while many other foreign drivers should carry an International Driving Permit alongside their home license.
