Visiting

Visa-free for up to 90 days. Travel on a passport valid for your whole stay, with a return or onward ticket and proof you can support yourself.

Passport validity:Non-EU visitors generally need a passport valid for at least 3 months beyond the planned departure and issued within the last 10 years.

Heads-up:The EU Entry/Exit System (EES) began phased rollout from October 2025, and the ETIAS travel authorisation for visa-exempt non-EU travellers is expected to start in late 2026.

At the border:Valid passport or travel document, and proof of purpose, accommodation and sufficient funds may be requested for short stays.

Working remotely

No dedicated nomad visa; the usual route is a standard residence permit.

Tax and residency

You are generally treated as a tax resident if you have your domicile or habitual abode in Luxembourg, and presence of more than 183 days in a calendar year is taken as habitual abode; residents are taxed on worldwide income, with treaty relief for foreign income.(estimate)

The UK decides residence with its Statutory Residence Test (days in the UK plus your ties). As a non-resident you are usually taxed only on UK income; where one exists, a double-tax treaty with the destination decides who taxes what.

Practical

Currency:EUR. Cost of living:high.

Healthcare:Anyone staying more than 90 days must take out health cover with the national fund (Caisse nationale de sante, CNS), to which employees are registered automatically through their employer.

Driving:Non-EU/EEA residents normally have up to one year after settling to convert a foreign licence, and an International Driving Permit or official translation is recommended if the licence is not in French or German.
