A visitor visa with no ARC, open only to visa-exempt nationals, so the time never counts toward permanent residence. Fees follow the standard visa fee table.

    Gov. sourceVerified Sep 13, 2026

Fees are the main government fee in the currency it is published in; the euro figure is an indicative conversion for sorting only, and insurance, translations, residence cards and agent fees come on top. Durations and rules change, sometimes with little notice. Confirm with the consulate or immigration office before you plan around a figure. This is educational, not immigration advice.

Voymo gives general information to help you organise your move. It is not legal, tax, or immigration advice, always confirm with an official source or a qualified professional before you act.

What this table is

Income decides whether you qualify. This table covers the next questions: what the visa costs, how long it lasts, and what happens when it runs out. For the same 29 programmes as our income index, it lists the main government fee in the currency it is charged in, the length of the first permit, whether you can renew and for how long in total, whether family can come with you, and whether the time counts toward permanent residence. Processing times, where a government page states one, sit in each row's note. Each row links to its government source and shows the date we last checked it.

How we verify each figure

Every row comes from our country files, which we audited against statute and official portals in September and October 2026, and from the government pages linked in the Source column. That is how some popular claims got corrected here: Indonesia's E33G is not extendable, Croatia's permit stops at 18 months, and Hungary's White Card gives family no right to join. When no official source states a figure, the cell says "not published". We never fill a gap with an estimate.

Read it as an estimate, not a ruling

Fees change, often by nationality and sometimes every quarter, and the government fee is rarely the whole bill: health insurance, sworn translations, the residence card and any agent come on top. The euro column is an indicative conversion, there only so the table can be sorted. Use the table to compare programmes, then confirm the live fee and rules with the consulate or immigration office before you apply. This is educational, not immigration advice.

Frequently asked questions

Which digital-nomad visa is cheapest to apply for? +

Sort the table by "Lowest fee first". Mauritius charges nothing to apply, and United Arab Emirates, South Africa, and South Korea sit under about €50 in government fees. Barbados is the outlier at the top: USD 2,000 for one person. Remember the fee is only the government part. Insurance, translations and the residence card usually cost more than the visa itself.

Which nomad visas let you stay the longest? +

Sort by "Longest possible stay". Portugal, Spain, Italy, and Sri Lanka renew with no fixed cap while you keep meeting the conditions, and Mexico, Ecuador, Montenegro, and Malta reach 4 years. At the short end, Namibia and Japan give you 6 months with no extension, and Estonia, Barbados, and Indonesia stop at one year.

Can I bring my family on a digital-nomad visa? +

Often, but not everywhere. In Hungary and Latvia, the nomad route gives your family no right to join you at all. Portugal makes most adult relatives wait, but you can apply for your children as soon as your own permit is issued. Where family can come, the income bar usually rises per person. Filter by "Family can come" to see the list.

Does a nomad visa lead to permanent residence? +

Only a few do. Portugal, Spain, Mexico, and Ecuador count the time toward permanent residence. Estonia, Costa Rica, Colombia, Brazil, Mauritius, Namibia, Panama, South Africa, Hungary, Malta, Barbados, Latvia, Taiwan, and Japan do not. Where the official source says nothing either way, the table shows "not published" instead of guessing.

How current is this table? +

Each row carries its own "Verified" date, taken from our audited country files, and the page's "Last verified" date is the oldest of them, so it never overstates how fresh the data is. Fees are revised often (Spain resets its consular fees every quarter), so check the linked government source before you pay.
